SPEaR funding

Your obligations

Recognition of SPEaR

Where applicable the applicant will agree to the following:

  • quarterly, six-monthly and final reporting as outlined in the contract
  • research applicants will complete a web profile and abstract to be placed on the SPEaR website
  • all funded events will be placed on the SPEaR website
  • all applicants will appropriately acknowledge SPEaR funding
  • all applicants will agree to sponsorship benefits as outlined in the contact.

Host institution obligations

The host institution is expected to provide appropriate technical support and facilities, equipment and consumables to enable the successful applicant to undertake and complete their programme of research. It is also expected to provide appropriate intellectual stimuli and mentoring to enhance the applicant's intellectual and research competencies.

Successful applicant's obligations

The award holder must undertake the project as outlined in the application form, approved by SPEaR (with any negotiated modifications) and confirmed by contract. The SPEaR Secretariat must be notified if any project variations are likely; e.g. applicant hospitalisation, major event date clash, extension to thesis delivery date.

Contractual and taxation issues

Awards are paid in instalments during the contract period, subject to reporting requirements and standard terms and conditions being met.

Privacy Act 1993

SPEaR, the SPEaR Secretariat and the Ministry of Social Development undertake to collect, use and store information provided in the Award application forms according to the principles of the Privacy Act 1993. The information will be used to select candidates for Linkages funding and for SPEaR Secretariat administrative purposes only.
