SPEaR Linkages funding programme

The SPEaR Linkages funding programme facilitates cross-sector collaborative social policy research and evaluation that supports effective decision-making to improve the knowledge base and social outcomes for New Zealanders.

Call for applications

Round 17 of the Social Policy Evaluation and Research (SPEaR) Committee Linkages Funding Programme has now closed (1 August). The closing date for Round 18 applications is 7 November 2008.  We aim to advise applicants of the outcome within 4-6 weeks of the Round closing date.

Categories

  • Social Science Research Award for professionals and postgraduate students to support quality research and its translation to policy and practice.
  • Social Science Capability Building Award designed to support skills building through workshops and speakers in order to increase social policy research capacity and capability in the sector.

Key funding activities

  • Linking quality research and evaluation to policy and decision-making.
  • Linking researchers, evaluators and policymakers to capacity and capability building opportunities.
  • Linking emerging and established researchers, evaluators and policymakers across the private, public and academic sectors.

Funding and key dates

Linkages funding has an annual budget of approximately $160,000. Funding will be awarded for a maximum 12-month period.  Amounts will vary depending on each application.

  • Maximum of $15,000 per award is available for Social Science Research Awards
  • Maximum of $10,000 per award is available for Social Science Capability Building Awards.

For 2008, funding round closing dates are the first Friday of May, August and November. Applicants will be advised of the outcome approximately six weeks after the round closes.  Dates for 2009 may alter.
