SPEaR Bulletin 22 July 2004

Workshops on best practice guidelines

Four workshops in early June catalysed the formation of SPEaR's quality standards framework for social policy research and evaluation.

Approximately 40 selected experts from the government, academic, NGO and contracting fields came together over the course of the workshops to help forge content and approaches to guidelines for ethical practice, equitable contracting, and cultural competency for R&E involving Maori and Pacific Peoples.

"We made an excellent start," notes Raewyn Good of the SPEaR Secretariat. "Working drafts will be posted on the SPEaR website about September so people can provide feedback to improve these 'living' documents".
